Step 5: Tackle Your Beasts, Blocks and Beliefs
Feb 03, 2025If you don’t tackle your beasts, you’ll never reach your true potential. That’s something I’ve come to believe on my own journey. Just like addressing shame (as I discussed in a previous step), confronting the dark places within ourselves—those fears and traumas we’ve been running from—can be the key to unlocking the life we truly want to live.
What Are Your Beasts?
Your “beasts” might be a traumatic event from your childhood, a deep-seated belief or energetic block that keeps you stuck. This could manifest as a fear of failure, limiting beliefs about money, or a lingering sense of unworthiness. Many of us struggle with feeling that we’re not good enough or that we’re undeserving of love. Often, our beasts arise from moments in our past where we lost our power. That was one of the biggest revelations for me.
Over time, I’ve realised that confronting these hidden barriers sometimes requires a more direct approach. It’s easy to engage in daily meditations, visualisations, or personal development practices while still avoiding the deeper work. These tools are helpful, but if we don’t address the underlying wounds, we might remain stuck despite our best efforts.
Facing the Deepest Fears
Through my own experience, I’ve noticed how I sometimes avoided dealing with my biggest fears. I would read books, listen to self-development advice, and try to reframe my mindset, but some deep-rooted beliefs just wouldn’t shift. That’s when I realised: if we don’t address the core trauma causing these beliefs, they will continue to control us.
One of my blocks was being able to assert myself—I had unknowingly become a people pleaser due to a past traumatic event. This fear made me suppress my anger for years. Only by tapping into that anger in a safe and controlled environment was I able to reclaim my power. Without addressing that suppressed emotion, I don’t believe I could have found the ability to be assertive in a healthy way.
The Importance of Safe Spaces
Facing these inner demons isn’t something to take lightly. It’s important to approach this process in a safe way. I’m not suggesting you lock yourself in a dark cave for ten days to battle your fears alone. Instead, there are powerful and effective methods available such as:
-
Breathwork
-
Bodywork
-
Therapeutic practices
-
Men’s and women’s groups
-
Professional facilitators
For me, a pivotal moment came during a Mankind Project initiation. It helped me tackle a beast I had buried so deeply that I wasn’t even aware of how much control it had over my life. This kind of work can be transformative, but it’s important to have proper guidance and support.
The Power of Integration
When confronting deep-seated fears and beliefs, integration is just as important as the experience itself. If you’re considering doing this kind of work, be prepared to give yourself time to absorb and adjust.
You’ll know when you’re ready for this step. If you feel called to it but aren’t sure where to start, you can always reach out to us at Wolf Academy. We can help guide you in the right direction if you’re based in Ireland or point you to valuable resources elsewhere.
Final Thoughts
I don’t believe we need to heal all of our traumas before we can live a happy life. Personally, I trust the timing of when these things arise in us to be healed. Often when something is holding me back, that’s my cue to go deeper.
If you’ve read this and something resonates with you, I encourage you to explore this step in your own time. And if you’d like to dive deeper, check out my book on Amazon or message Wolf Academy for a copy if you’re in Ireland. I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences—feel free to reach out with any questions or feedback!
Wishing you courage on your journey!
